Hippies are not all bad.
The Hippie Generation preached peace and love.
And peace and love are major teachings of Jesus.
They also endorsed eastern religious principles like: non-violence (ahimsa), meditation, and the middle path (Buddha).
They pioneered concern for the environment.
And they challenged profit motive and corporate greed.
Unfortunately they were betrayed by their rock stars who sabotaged their spiritual quest and poisoned their minds.
Sex and drugs and rock and roll led to decadence and degradation.
This left them sitting ducks for Reagan's revenge.
And the full force of reactionary Fascism.
