It occurred to me that what was at the heart of family values was love.
What conservatives and evangelicals found in family was love.
What families have that others do not is love.
You will find that in families love will override condemnation or judgment or disapproval, even apathy or indifference = neglect.
God is a father and all are His family.
The family of humanity.
The objective is not to treat your family as we treat everyone else but to treat everyone like a family member.
So there is no difference between what progressives and conservatives are saying. The things of God are the things of love and family is one of those things.
The heart of progressive and conservative religion is the same: Love!
(N.B. Homosexuality = love between two people of the same sex.)
