Elijah.

After he killed the priests of Baal Elijah said to the Lord, "'It is enough ; now Lord, take away my life, for I am not better than my ancestors.'" 1Kings 19:4b. (NRSV)

But God fed him and showed him a mighty wind, an earthquake, and a fire.  But God was not in these spectacular, violent events.
God was in the "sound of sheer silence" 1Kings 19:12b (NRSV) that followed.

To me this means that God does not act in spectacular, violent ways.
God is non-violent (harmless).
