"Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. The Armor of God is a collection of non-violent instruments of protection with which we can defend our souls.
But this does not mean we must take up the sword to defend the Lamb.
To take up the sword is to use violence to defend non-violence.
This is the classic mistake of the world's religions.
We must use non-violence means to protect our souls.
We must lay down the sword and cry out to God for help!
God will answer.
And deliver us from evil.
