My friend Sean said to me recently, "There is either the presence of God or the absence of God. When God is present you experience good things. When God is absent you experience bad things."
I would have said that there is either a presence or absence of Love which causes us to have good or bad experiences.
Perhaps, in the end, they are the same thing.
