When we are young we think that life is about getting a partner, finding work, buying a car and a house, and having children.
We are indoctrinated with the philosophy of worldly success.
We think that being accepted by the dominant culture - being one of the boys - is the sanctioned goal in life.
Drunkenness and materialism are the results.
We are encouraged to think of God in terms of worldly authorities.
We do not know that God's ways are not the ways of the world.
But God is on the side of the weak, the poor, the powerless.
He will deliver you from the hands of the wicked.
And mend your broken heart.
