Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus.

It is held three days after the Winter Equinox when the Sun begins to move north again.

In the ancient world this day was called The Birth of the Sun.

And the Founding Fathers chose this date to signify Jesus as the Light of the World.

So Christmas is the Birth of the Light - the day that the Light came into the world*.

(*It is said to have taken place at midnight - the hour of deepest darkness.)
