Jesus said: "'The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.'" John 4:14 (NRSV)
What is this mysterious water?
I believe it is love.
"'As the scripture has said, "Out of the believer's heart shall flow rivers of living water.""" John 7:38 (NRSV)
And so if we love God and love our neighbor as Jesus has instructed us then we will open our hearts and partake of the Water of Life.
"God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them." 1 John 4:16 (NRSV)
And so we know Life.
For life comes from God.
It is God who gives us life.
And it to God that we return.
