Compartmentalized.
An Indian Yogi once said to me that men's minds were more compartmentalized.
This would explain how the older generation could go to church on Sundays and conform to every demand and still work during the week as if the Church did not exist.
The expression It's a jungle out there dates from the 1950s when churches were full.
But the Churches of the 1950s allowed no questioning of their doctrines upon threat of hell.
So men merely went along with what was being presented and ignored it during the week.
There may have been some who tried to apply Christian principles to business but they were few and far between.
It would be accurate to say that the businesses of the 1950s were marginally more honest than the corporations of the present day.
But the fact remains: It's a jungle out there.
