What is it that makes people store up wealth for themselves on earth?
It is fear.
Fear of poverty.
The most materialistic people are those who have grown up in poverty.
Their fear is so great that they never feel they have enough.
Those who inherit wealth inherit this fear-driven philosophy from their parents.
But Jesus said to the rich man to sell all his possessions and he would have treasure in Heaven.
