Idolatry.

The Evangelical insistence on accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior is a form of idolatry.

They make an idol of Jesus.

While ignoring the teachings of Jesus they insist on deference to the person of Jesus as God Himself.

This makes an absolute of Christ.

Which gives them absolute power.

And absolute power corrupts absolutely.

On the mountain God says: "'This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him.'"  Luke 9:35 (NRSV)

Listen to Him.

Not worship him.

Not follow him.

But listen to him.
