When Pope John Paul II called for the cancellation of the financial debt burden on underdeveloped countries the rich Western financial authorities announced that they would
forgive some of their debt.
As if they were God forgiving their sins.
This was a quite deliberate play for absolute power.
It was bad joke.
But it was just one more piece of evidence that the economic authorities in our world are playing God.
